What Is Meditation?

Meditation is a series of techniques used to relax and to facilitate deep reflection and a clearing of the mind. It is seen as a way of shedding your cares and reaching a tranquil state that refreshes the body and mind. It can be used as a method of achieving Spiritual Enlightenment.

 Who Can Meditation Help?

Meditation can have positive benefits for people who suffer from Stress, Anxiety, Headaches, Pain and Fatigue. During meditation, circulation improves to such a degree that many people with High Blood Pressure are able, after consultation with their doctor, to cut down or even completely cut out their medications. The technique is not recommended for people who suffer from psychiatric problems such as psychosis.  What Does Meditation Involve?

Many people are not able to meditate on their own and choose to join a meditation class. Each session may last an hour or so and usually involves sitting still in a set position usually crossed legged or on a chair if unable to. An object of meditation is chosen and chanting of a mantra may occur. Depending on the leader, other rituals may occur. As the session progresses slow breathing promotes and focuses deep relaxation and tranquility.
