Guide To Iridology

What Is Iridology?

Iridology is a method of diagnosing problems and assessing health status that relies on studying the iris of the eye. Iridology was founded by Ignatz Von Peczely, a Hungarian Doctor. He noticed a mark appear in his pet owls eye after damaging its leg. As the leg healed the mark changed in texture. The theory of iridology is that all parts of the body are reflected within specific areas of the iris of the eye. The Iris is divided into sections that each represent a different body organ or function.

 Who Can Iridology Help?

Iridology is used for diagnostic purposes and has been adopted by a number of natural practitioners such as naturopaths, homeopaths etc. People who do not feel at home with the more invasive techniques of conventional diagnosis (such as X-Rays, Blood Tests, Swabs etc) may feel more at ease with the examination of the eyes.

 What Does iridology Involve?

Looking into your eye using a magnifying glass. Photographs of your iris may also be taken using a special camera. The image(s) of the eye are shown on a projection screen and checked against a detailed chart of the iris. Blood pressure and temperature may be measured. The iridologist will then explain the significance of the various markings and advise on what treatment needs to be undertaken or suggest a suitable therapist to be referred to, or even a visit to a conventional doctor. At follow up sessions, the progress of the patient can be tracked by comparing the consecutive iris charts.
