Guide To Anthroposophical Medicine
What Is Anthroposophical Medicine?
Rudolph Steiner, the Austrian scientist and philosopher, introduced Anthroposophical Medicine in the 1920's. Anthroposophical medicine aims to stimulate a persons natural healing forces by observing physical symptoms, but also studying the influences of their soul and spirit. This therapy embraces conventional medicine, but adds to it and complements it with more natural methods of healing.
Who Can Anthroposophical Medicine Help?
As all Anthroposophical doctors are fully medically qualified, they can be consulted for any sort of physical or mental illness. This therapy is particularly suitable for anyone who wishes to use drugs or surgery as little as possible, while still knowing that they are in the hands of a conventionally trained doctor.
What Does Anthroposophical Medicine Involve?
A detailed case history will be taken that will involve details of the patients physical and mental symptoms, lifestyle, diet, exercise routine, etc., then a diagnosis will be made in the conventional way. As well as treating the immediate symptoms, the practitioner will seek to treat the underlying imbalance that they think is causing the illness. They may prescribe conventional pharmaceutical drugs, or use alternative remedies. They may also suggest other tratments; such as Massage, Art therapy or Aromatherapy.
